The pets of GTA 6
This page covers the animals the player interacts with directly — companions, domestic animals seen around the city — as distinct from the wild fauna of the Everglades and the ocean, covered on our dedicated page. Rockstar hasn't confirmed anything on this specific point for GTA 6; here's what the series' history lets us anticipate.
What the series has already offered
Chop (GTA V)
Franklin's rottweiler, the only genuinely playable animal in the series to date: walks, training and dedicated mini-games in story mode.
Stray dogs (GTA V)
Present in the streets of Los Santos as background elements, with no deep interaction possible.
Dog adoption (GTA Online)
Added in an update after GTA Online's launch, letting players keep a dog at their property.
Horses (Red Dead Redemption 2)
A full mount system with an emotional bond, training and multiple coats — but RDR2 is set in a rural 19th-century world, very different from Leonida.
What's plausible for GTA 6
A companion dog for Jason or Lucia
No spotted appearance in the trailers to date. If the series keeps its Chop tradition, a scripted companion animal remains possible without being confirmed.
Domestic animals in the urban background
Stray dogs and cats in the streets of Vice City, consistent with the level of detail already shown in the trailers, but not formally identified to date.
Farms and livestock in Grassrivers
Leonida's rural areas could house farms with chickens, goats or horses, in keeping with the agricultural setting of the American South, without official confirmation.
