New GTA 6 trailer: the launch trailer video, and what it shows

Rockstar put out a 90-second launch trailer on October 15, 2026, captured on PS5 and carried by a brand-new Justice track with Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard: the video, and everything in it

โœ… Yes: Rockstar Games released a new GTA 6 trailer on October 15, 2026. It is called the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer, runs 1 minute 30 seconds, and was captured entirely on PS5. It is the game's fourth official video, after trailers 1 and 2 and the 26-minute Extended Look from August 27 โ€” and most likely the last one before the November 19 release. The video is embedded at the top of this page; here is what it shows, new song included.

Is there a new GTA 6 trailer?

โœ… Confirmed: yes, posted by Rockstar Games to its YouTube channel and its X account on October 15, 2026.

Dateโœ… October 15, 2026
Runtimeโœ… 1 min 30
Where to watchโœ… Rockstar Games' official YouTube channel (embedded at the top of this page) and the studio's X account

FormatA cinematic cut, with very little raw gameplay

Rockstar paired the video with a story summary: "Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them", before restating the premise already known โ€” an easy score goes wrong, then a criminal conspiracy bigger than either of them spreads across the state of Leonida, leaving them with nobody to rely on but each other.

๐Ÿ”ด No new technical or commercial announcement in this trailer: no date change, nothing on GTA Online, nothing on a PC version.

What does the launch trailer show?

This is a narrative trailer, carried by Jason's voice, in the vein of the GTA V (2013) and Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018) launch trailers. What stands out:

โœ… Jason's military past. The opening seconds go back over his time in the army and the less-than-glorious exit that followed โ€” a piece of his story the first two trailers barely touched.

โœ… Lucia's ankle monitor. It is visible on her ankle during an intimate shower scene between the two leads. The detail had been discussed for months, ever since trailer 1 and Lucia's release from prison: it is now on screen.

๐ŸŸก A story role for that monitor. Several outlets infer it will weigh on the plot, maybe even on the character's freedom of movement. Rockstar has said nothing of the sort: that is press reading, not an announcement.

โœ… Action, and the couple. Lucia grabs the landing gear of a moving plane, both characters drive, shoot and kiss; the cut moves from Vice City to the swamps and the roads of Leonida, with a car chase along the way.

๐ŸŸก One line viewers latched onto: Lucia asks, in substance, whether "we're gonna be OK" in the middle of the chaos. It only appears in some of the write-ups.

๐Ÿ”ด No detailed new gameplay. No HUD, no new mechanic, no interface: for that, the August 27 Extended Look is still the reference.

What is the song in the trailer?

โœ… Confirmed by Rockstar: the video debuts "Flower in a Hurricane", a brand-new track by Justice โ€” the French duo scoring GTA 6 โ€” with Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

It is the song's first airing, exactly how Rockstar handled the singles from Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, announced on September 17, 2026.

๐ŸŸก On the album or not: several outlets present the track as bound for the official soundtrack. Rockstar's own post only credits the artists, with no streaming release and no addition to the tracklist announced. We track the 34 original tracks and the radio stations on our dedicated GTA 6 soundtrack page.

How is it different from the August 27 Extended Look?

The two videos do different jobs, and comparing them shot for shot makes little sense:

Extended Look (August 27, 2026)Launch trailer (October 15, 2026)
Runtime26 min 481 min 30
PurposeShow the game as you will play itSet up the story and the tone, five weeks out
ContentGameplay captured on PS5, interface, missions, free-roam activitiesCinematic cut, Jason narrating

PremiereNetflix live, then YouTubeYouTube and X

Put another way: the Extended Look answered "how does it play", this trailer answers "why will you care". It is Rockstar's usual pattern as a launch closes in.

Is this the last trailer before November 19?

๐ŸŸก Probably, but not certainly. At Rockstar, the launch trailer has historically been the last narrative video before release: that was the case for GTA V in 2013 and for Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018. The studio has not, however, announced any marketing schedule for the five remaining weeks.

What does have a date:

  • โœ… November 12, 2026: preloading opens for digital versions.
  • โœ… November 19, 2026: worldwide release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with unlocking expected at midnight Paris time.
  • ๐Ÿ”ด Still no date for GTA Online or for a PC version.

If you have not ordered the game yet, the offers and bonuses are laid out in our GTA 6 pre-order guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a GTA 6 trailer 4?

Yes, if you count the official videos: the October 15, 2026 trailer is the fourth, after trailers 1 and 2 and the Extended Look. Rockstar does not number it โ€” its official title is simply Launch Trailer.

How long is the new GTA 6 trailer?

1 minute and 30 seconds.

What platform was the trailer captured on?

PS5, according to Rockstar, which states it in the video. No footage is presented as captured on PC or on Xbox Series X.

What is the launch trailer's music?

"Flower in a Hurricane", by Justice with Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Justice scores all of GTA 6.

Does the trailer change the release date?

No. GTA 6 still comes out on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and the video confirms that date on screen.

The October 15, 2026 launch trailer is not trying to show gameplay โ€” the Extended Look did that โ€” but to round out the portrait of the pair: Jason's military past, Lucia's ankle monitor, and a brand-new Justice track to carry the 90 seconds. Five weeks remain until November 19, and we will update this page if Rockstar puts out another video before then.
