GTA 6 Will Indeed Release on November 19, 2026: Take-Two Confirms (Preorders This Summer)

During the fourth-quarter fiscal 2026 results presentation, Strauss Zelnick settled the question that has stirred the community for months. The CEO reaffirmed that GTA 6 will indeed release on November 19, 2026, and that the game won't be delayed again.

This confirmation was echoed the same day in an interview with Bloomberg, where Zelnick reiterated that November 19 is final and stated that preorders will begin in the immediate future.

The executive was categorical on the Founders podcast a few days earlier, answering the question about the date in two words: "November 19th. I know it."

Asked about the preorder timeline, Take-Two's CEO offered an important clarification. GTA 6 preorders will go live as soon as the marketing campaign begins, and marketing won't start before late June 2026.

Pressed to define what he meant by "summer," Zelnick clarified he meant late June or early July. Preorders will therefore open in just 1 to 2 months, leaving a 4 to 5 month window until the November 19 release date.

The CEO addressed the rumor of an internal Best Buy email that suggested preorders would open as early as May 18, 2026. Asked about this leak, Zelnick said he didn't know the source of the rumor and dismissed it as inaccurate.

Zelnick confirmed that GTA 6's marketing won't be identical to GTA V's. The CEO didn't detail the approach, but Rockstar has historically favored tightly controlled reveals: spaced-out trailers, minimal communication, total control over the calendar.

A third trailer is expected alongside the campaign launch, likely late June or early July 2026.

On the Founders podcast, Zelnick acknowledged that the game is running roughly 18 months behind its originally planned date. In practical terms, GTA 6 could have released in spring 2025 under the original internal schedule. The executive justified the delay by Take-Two's philosophy of prioritizing creative quality over a rigid schedule.

Take-Two expects net bookings between $8.0 and $8.2 billion for fiscal year 2027 — which covers the GTA 6 launch. Zelnick is targeting a record level that will establish "a new financial baseline" for the company.
